- Question: What is the difference between regular window tinting film compared to ceramic-based window tinting film?
Quick Tips:
When calling for a window tinting quote, it is important to consider the following:
- Ask if a warranty is provided from the business/installer and the film manufacturer.
- Two documents should be given to the customer in order to verify the film that was used (1) a receipt from the business/installer; and (2) a warranty card from the manufacturer that contains information on the roll number from which the film originated. If not, the quality of the film may be questionable. High quality film will come with a lifetime warranty and will have a "roll number" [similar to a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) from cars). If they provide a warranty for 5 years or less, do not bother because there is a chance this is dye-film. These types of film turn purple and will eventually start to bubble and peel.
- Choose your film wisely. If you choose the wrong film, it will cost you more money to remove it, especially for your rear window because of the defroster lines.
- When calling around for a quote, some businesses may charge you more if you request for darker shades. This is because working with a darker shade of film can be more challenging to install. However, we at Pro Window Tinting, will not charge you differently.
- If you do business with a mobile service window tinting company, it is important to ask whether they have a tint shop and not a home address. For worry-free access to your warranty, you should be able to locate the installers for any concerns that may arise. Many of our customers have shared their unfortunate experiences with mobile-based companies that could not be located due to the lack of a shop location.
